So, let's start at the beginning... hmmm.... Oh, MONDAY! Right! So Monday was my roommate's bday, and she's one of those people that seriously celebrates her bdays (or at least bdays are a big deal to her). We went out to dinner at an asian food restaurant and it was SO GOOD!!! I had white rice for the first time since I have been here!!! (and no, I did not ask for ketchup). Then on tuesday, we had another "camp A team meeting", meaning we all got together to do one of our PC's goofy activities. Did I tell you about the last activity??? We had "date night" before, where we essentially embarrassed ourselves, walking around rota wearing the same outfits as our "date." Well, this time, we had the "olympics." I lost both my events (surprise suprise) which were paper tearing and the fastest texter. (Just becuz I am from California does NOT mean I am good at texting, but i would just like to say I would have gotten second place if my fone had actually had service...)
Then Wednesday was a day from Hell. Or at least the first half of it was. So our field trip of the week was the "Bee Museum." Really. And I was DREADING it. You see, I hate bees. And if it were really just a bee museum I would have been fine. But, unfortunately, there were actual bees involved. As you can see in the pictures (that I will hopefully post), we all got dressed in actual bee suits, and the lady opened a hive. can u say AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Do you know how much harder it is to NOT freak out than it is run out of there screaming??? It's really hard. I was trying my best not to run away like a lunatic when I could here the bees buzzing around my head, and then when they landed on the netting right in front of my face. It took a lotta will power to sit still. And when it was my groups turn to leave, I literally pushed the kid in front of me forward (he was walking REALLY SLOW). Lemme just say that that was not fun. And then i was in a very not happy mood for the rest of camp.
But then after camp, me and kate were supposed to be finding a car to go to portugal (i was going to go to Morocco with other ppl, but I changed my mind). But we couldnt find a car.... since neither of us could drive a stick. Anywho, then right after that, me and kate got adopted. Yes, adopted. there's this thing called "adopt-a-counselor" where the parents of a kid can take a counselor home and give them a home-cooked meal. Kate and i were lucky enough to be able to go together, and we were also lucky enough to get adopted by one of the nicest families!!! Not only were they legitimately nice, they fed us STEAK and RICE and GARLIC BREAD!!! And as if that wasn't good enough, the mom whipped out a cherry peach pie for dessert, hot out of the oven. MMmmmmmmm delicious!!!
Thursday was a long day, but the only way I was able to get through was the knowledge that I would get to see transformers right after camp. A whole bunch of people were going to go see it. And even when one of my kids almost drowned, I was oober excited to see the movie. And then, of course, Lauren tells me I can't. She says that we have to do programming. I was like NO! and she was like YES! And I was like "Who cares if it's due tomorrow?!?! I wanna see the movie!!!" And then she dragged me to her room and we finished programming in 4 hours. I am a little nervous to see how my first week of programming will go, but I will tell you how it went next week (not this week) because that's when it is.
On friday, I didn't get creamed!!! YAY!!! It was really funny, because Raindrop had never been creamed, so we had been telling all the kids to cream her, so she put it off on Miss Tracey and told all the kids to get her, instead. (Tracey's the head of the SAC (school age care) and she hadn't been creamed yet either). Raindrop even made a few posters advertising miss tracey getting pied. And miss tracey found out, and her return strike was HILARIOUS! She typed and printed up a contract that said "I, Miss Tracey, will volunteer myself to be pied as long as Raindrop is pied first." Jon went around and showed this to all the kids, and so both Raindrop and Tracey got pied. It was great!
Friday night, we didn't go out since everyone was so tired. Instead, me and kate went to see Angels and Demons at the theater. Then on saturday, we hung out on the beach. And guess what??? I got totally burned... again. I need to put on more sunscreen. Anyways, then saturday night, we were supposed to go out to see Orawan's hubby playing music out in rota (Orawan is a staff member at the SAC who is really really sweet), but something happened and we couldn't go. I would tell you what that something is, but as that information is apparently confidential, I can't. I will just tell you that it does not involve any partying or me at all, just so you guys don't get the wrong idea. And then today we went to the commissary and stocked up on supplies. and i finally got to see transformers!!! YAYYYYYYY!!! I forced Lauren to go with me (with the bribe that I would pay for her ticket and her slushie, which wasn't that big a deal considering movie tickets here are only 3 dollars.)
So, all i have to do is make Jello tonight. Apparently, they need it for camp or something. I don't really know. All I know is that I have to boil water, and that will be interesting...
Oh, and for birthday plans, i have it all thought out!!! After camp tomorrow, we are going to play apples to apples and catch phrase and eat the snickers ice cream bars that I bought for everyone today. YAY! Now that's a birthday!
HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY ALLISON!!!! I know it's not til tomorrow, but you won't be online before then anyway. Love the stories as usual, especially the Bee Museum! Wish we could be there for your birthday, but we'll celebrate with chicken, rice (with ketchup), and a mud pie when you get home.
ReplyDeleteLove you lots!
