So before I forget, my mom reminded me that I didn't mention how she went behind my back and told the waiter-guy at Hard Rock Cafe in Madrid that it was my birthday.  Then they came down and made me STAND ON A CHAIR so they could sing happy birthday to me.  Yes, it was sufficiently embarrassed.  Thank you Mom.

Anyways, so this week at camp was crazy (as usual).  This time, though, it was the ADHD kid that was giving us problems (well, we don't actually know whether he really has ADHD, but with every passing day, it becomes much more likely...).  I love him, though, because he is one of the cutest little kids.  And he is HILARIOUS. (This is the one that refused to eat lunch on Monday).  But he was having a very difficult week.  And we got a couple more devilish kids in our group, so it was kinda hectic.

We went to the "zoo" this week.  The zoo part is in quotes since it wasn't really a zoo.  It was more like a small cheap version of a game reserve.  We saw a bird show (kinda lame since I have seen so many of those), a sea lion show (which was AWESOME), and then rode around on a little train to see all the animals.  It was a little lame, but it would have been better if it didn't take OVER TWO HOURS to get there.  And on the way back, the movie didn't work.  BUM BUM BUM.  Let me just say, that was one craaaaaaaazy bus ride.

But while we were on the train at the "zoo," one kid got bumped in the nose (by another kid's head) and I put off giving him an ice pack, hoping he would just stop crying once it stopped hurting.  But, according to him, it never stopped hurting, so I finally gave in and got out a cold pack.  The problem was, I can never pop those suckers, so I handed it back to Lauren (who was sitting behind me luckily) and she threw it on the ground and stomped on it (which was definitely not how I would have done it).  But, hey, it worked.  But after the kid held it to his face for about five minutes, he looks at his hands and says "What's that?".  I look and see all this white stuff all over his hands and face, and that's when I found out that the ice pack was leaking.  Woops...  I read the pack and it said to immediately wash the area off with water, which is never a good sign.  So I did, and the kid didn't complain for the rest of the trip.  The ADHD kid, on the other hand, who was actually the one who bumped the kid's nose in the first place, sees the ice pack and starts whining that his ankle hurt and asked for an ice pack.  I was like PSSSSSHHHHHH.

Oh, and have I ever written about our pool days???  Cuz we go to the pool every tuesday and thursday, and the kids just love to hang on the counselors.  They also tend to grab onto our bathing suits, and let's just say that that is never good...  I was swimming away from this one kid, but I let him catch up to me, and he totally grabbed my butt and I was like WOAH THERE.  It was really funny.  Although the best one was definitely when I was lifting kids out of the water and I looked down and saw that my boob was practically popping out of my bathing suit.  THAT was embarrassing.  Haha a new girl this last week was looking a little sunburnt and I asked her "Did you put on sunscreen?"  She gets all defensive "YES!"  Then I was like "Did you put any on your face?" and she shook her head.  I almost laughed.

Then on Friday, two of my kids FLIPPED OUT (and they're usually pretty good kids) so I spent a lot of time just talking to them.  One of them (the one who got his nose hurt) was just really upset about the big kids being mean to him and he just wanted to rant.  The other kid was laying on the floor crying because someone had said he could play whatever, and then we changed it and said he could color or play a game with the counselor.  I tried to talk to him, but since all the parents were coming for the BBQ (and all my kids were running around screaming), I didn't have much time.  So, I left him, hoping that he would be fine, but then during the BBQ, he came out and told me that his mom wanted to talk to me.  I was like crap.  I had heard that his mom was not the...uh... nicest of ladies.  But now I am thinking that maybe they might have been talking about a different mom, because she was really nice.  It made me really nervous though because I thought I was going to get yelled at or something.

And then later that afternoon.... I got creamed.  I will put the pictures up.  It was the same thing as last time, I thought I was off the hook, but then the kid chose me.  that was fun.  But it was so funny, because my cute little Spanish kid almost slipped in a bunch of whipped cream, and he just goes WOAH! in the cutest voice.  It was so funny!  (Guess you had to be there).  I love him, though, because he is super hyper and he only speaks in one-word sentences, like WOAH!

Oh, and this weekend, I didn't get to see transformers.  I was soooo bummed/pissed.  They told me like a half an hour before the movie that we weren't gonna see it.  I was not very happy.  But we all went out that night, and it was kind of entertaining to see everybody getting drunk.  I went back early, although we still didn't get back until 3am.  (Mainly because I walked with Jon, and he had NO idea where he was going).  They wanted to get to the beach by noon and I was like PSSSSSHHHHHHH.  So we hung out on the beach saturday, saw night at the museum at the drive-in (LAME!), and hung out on the beach today.  Lets just say I am very very very sunburnt, and very not happy about the movie choice.  I guess I will just have to suck it up...

  1. Aly, I'm going to see your mom this week and get all the scoop from her about their trip to see you. Sounds like you are adjusting to the craziness of camp and dealing with kids every day. Keep smiling. Did you get the package yet? Happy Birthday too! Love, Alicia
