The girls in the pic are Lauren (who I met this morning), Stepanie (who we met at New York), and Jody (from Chico). This is on the beach on base.

I met my roommate last night!!! Her name is Holli and she got here at midnight, which really must suck because I had already been asleep for 3 hours. Apparently, everyone else stayed up till midnight anways.... but I hadn't slept for over 48 hours (if you don't count the not-sleep I got on the plane flights) so I was legitimately tired!!! I am glad I slept that long, but I did wake up at midnight to meet my roommate. Then I went back to sleep and woke up at 7 to the alarm from Hell that wouldn't shut off. That was fun.
We took a tour of the base today, and I have to say, it's probably just as big (or bigger) as the Davis campus. The buildings are a lot more spread apart, which kind of stinks considering we have to walk everywhere, but the internet place is about as far as the ARC was from our dorms, so that's not too bad. The grocery store was pretty far, though. We don't have our base passes yet, so we couldn't go into the comissary, but we could go in the MiniMart. The food there is hecka cheap!!! Me and my roomie will so have to go shopping. And they have a Subway there!!! (except the subway was OOOOBER expensive, meaning one six-inch sub was 5 bucks)

I am officially not supposed to leave base till after tomorrow, but there is enough stuff to do I think. I still have to unpack!!! (I was way too tired to do that yesterday). Everyone else has already unpacked, though. Arg.

Oh, and it definitely helps to know some Spanish. A lot of the people here are Spanish, like the workers at Subway. They were teaching us how to say things in spanish. It was funny. And I tried to talk to a couple people in the airport, but they laughed at me. In my defense, they did understand me (eventually). You would think that I would be a lot better at this spanish thing considering I have taken 5 years of it......

The people here are all super helpful. They are all happy to see us in our dorky uniforms. One lady was telling us where to get the cheapest stuff, which was nice. Oh, and we visited the on-base beach today. It was GORGEOUS!!!
