So I never really finishing telling you what happened on Sunday night (I have been really really busy). Basically, there's this awesome girl named Tiendra (I think that's how you spell it) and she knew that I really liked Hinder, and since she had some connections because she's a part of the partier crowd, she hooked me up. She helped me get CDs and guitar picks and stuff. So I ended up with a lot of cool stuff. And then we went and met Hinder and got pics with them, and that's what I posted today. The pics aren't the greatest, but I had somebody else take it (0bviously) and they had to take it really fast because there was a line. Then afterwards, the girls (and Brian) all stalked Hinder and followed them to a bar, but apparently Hinder had pretty girls in mind... (I didn't go because camp was the next day, and I was already super tired).
Anyways, so the first week of camp was...uh... interesting. I met the kids I will be working with ALL SUMMER (yes, that's right, I said ALL SUMMER). They are a rambunctious lot. I vote that they are the rowdiest group out of all of them, and to prove it, I will tell a bit of how my week has been.... So basically none of the other groups had to fill out an accident report, whereas in my group, we have already filled out FOUR. My kids are very very very...uh... not careful. We have one kid that blatantly refuses to listen to us and says all the time "I hate camp adventure!" and another kid who doesn't ever listen but starts crying when anybody raises their voice at him and another kid who is so off in his own little world that you could shot his name out when you are two feet away from him and he won't hear you, and another kid who complains about the smallest things (like getting sunscreen in his eye) and doesn't stop. Add the typical "I wanna go home" and "I miss my mommy" to all of that, and you've got a party!!!
All in all, though, it wasn't as bad as it could have been (i guess). Although, for some strange reason, I ended up in science club. I mean, seriously. Do I look like the type of girl who understands science? No. I don't. So basically, I let my partner run the club, while I sit back and go "Really? That's why it does that?" and the kid next to me goes "You didn't know that?!? I learned that in kindergarten!!!" Yes, the kids love me (a few of them, at least).
But I will survive. Oh, and a kid said something really funny today. He was saying how scientists are working on growing human body parts, and I asked him how he knew all that, and he said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "I watch Oprah!"
I am sooooo tired from camp. Soo tired. But I am taking time out of my schedule to blog, so be happy.
Oh, did I tell you we went to a water park yesterday? Cuz we did. We swim on tuesdays and thursdays, so I am pretty much all watered out. At the water park, though, it wasn't bad as I though it would be. I thought it would be crazy unorganized chaos, but our groups all stayed together for the most part (except the kid-lost-in-his-own-world who kept wandering off). Oh, and on the slide called "The Black Hole," all my kids were soooo excited to go up there, and following protocol, me and Kate went up to the slide with the kids (me in front so I would get down to the bottom first to wait with the kids who go down, and her in back to make sure everyone goes down okay). It was a 2 person slide, so when the first two got all situated, I turned to help the next two. The lifeguard taps me on the shoulder and says "tiene miedo" (he only speaks spanish, btw. I looked down and find out that one of the kids was freaking out and didn't want to go down the slide. It took her forever to decide whether she wanted to go or not, but she finally got off and I called another kid over. He came over, sat down, got all ready, and then he chickened out too!!!! We were holding up the line, and the lifeguard was getting frustrated and the people behind were shouting. So I finally just shouted (very angrily) "Will somebody who is not afraid just get up here and go down the slide!?!?!" And thankfully, someone did, and as soon as the first two went down, everyone else wanted to go too. Oh, kids.
But I did see one really awesome thing that day. The water park had this kiddy area where there was a giant pool that was like 3 feet deep and that had a bunch of mini slides in it. One of the older kids (he's 9, I think) was going down the slide when one of my kids walked right in front of the bottom of the slide. I was like "CRAP!" (in my head), but thankfully, the older kid saw him and put his feet out to stop himself just in time. I just thought it was really sweet. I don't know, you kind of had to be there. (or maybe I was just really happy that the kid saved me from having to deal with a screaming/crying little kid).
Oh, and after a few days, me and Kate made the wise decision to hide a few toys in our room that were annoying us. The kids are like OBSESSED with the Mandala game and they won't ever put it away, so we hid it in the teacher's cupboard, and they haven't even noticed it's gone. HA! And we moved the bookcase closer to the wall so they can't hide behind it (so now they just hide under the tables, which is a little better). And, after the thermometer incident, I removed the little science kits that honestly shouldn't have been in the room in the first place. I mean, seriously!!! It specifically said on the boxes "for 4-6th grades" (and I have second and third graders) and "with instruction of teacher." Those kits were definitely not meant for seven year olds to use on their own. How are they supposed to know that the glass thermometers were to test the temperature of water or something?!? Of course they are going to think that it's to take their own temperature!!! Seriously. So those kits went bye-bye for good. Good riddance.
Okay, so that's my (not so) little rant. And believe it or not, that's not even half of what happened this week. I really hope the other weeks aren't this crazy. My goodness!!!
