Okay, so I got up Thursday morning at 8 so I could be at the CDC at 9 (like we've been doing pretty much every morning). And then, when I got there, I got to sit through a very lovely lecture on security on the base. It was actually very informative, just a little long. But sitting through it meant that we could officially go off base (the POC here wouldn't let us go off base until we had heard that lecture), which made a lot of the girls very very very happy (since apparently the bar on base is not up to par).

Then we got an hour for lunch (which isn't that much when you have to walk everywhere), part of which was used up by going to get our commissary passes so we could actually buy groceries. After that, I had a lovely lunch at Taco Bell before rushing over to the Liberty Center (where I am right now because that's where the internet is) to delete a few pics that I apparently wasn't supposed to post. (I am not allowed to have pics of the base up).

After that, we attended a lecture on... who knows what. It was supposed to be on heat stress, but honestly that only made up about 10 minutes of the presentation. I think the guy was more interested in promoting his research than informing us about heat stress. Yeah, that was a big waste of 2 hours. But, hey, at least I got to chillax.

Then we went back to CDC to start working on posters (and apparently I am quite the artist). And even though we were super tired, we (meaning Jenn, Kate, Holli, and I) went to the commissary and used our new passes!!! I, unfortunately, was running a little low on (american) cash, so I didn't buy much. But I still had tons to carry back to our building. It was sooooo hot and the bags were sooooo heavy. Like, seriously, we need a car. Now that we can finally get groceries, we have to get them in multiple trips if we don't want our arms to fall off. I am just pissed that I didn't really get anything to eat. I got juice and then some mini bagels and my roomie got peanut butter and jelly. So, today, all I've eaten is cereal (provided by the CDC), a pop tart (also from CDC), and two PBJ mini-bagels. And I am surprisingly not that hungry. But I will go back to the commissary tomorrow and get actual food so I won't starve.

Oh, and today, we started real camp stuff. We worked on posters all morning and then practiced our songs for "blitz". I had thought that I knew the songs fairly well. Apparently not. I totally messed up my part for this one song I've done like a hundred times. It was very sad. Oh, and we picked the theme for our camp names: weather. I am "Miss Monsoon". I was not particularly fond of the name, but hey, whatever. They all took the names I wanted.... very sad, I know. So I am Miss Monsoon (compliments of my roommate).

Haha and we went back to the place that gave us our commissary passes because, apparently, they didn't have a particular stamp that allows us to get into the commissary (I have no idea how we got in there before). And they laminated our cards for us!!! It was very exciting.

After that little lunch break, we practiced more songs and went through the rooms that we will be using this summer. I am in the "camp lazlo" room, which is 7-8 year olds, with Kate. So far, I think we make a good team. She remembers all the stuff I forget. And she set up all the decorations while I hung them up (because I am tall). Speaking of which, after we went back to making posters for 2 or 3 hours, we went to hang up the finished ones for next week in the rooms. Then we went back to CDC (again) and finished up the expectations poster. (People kept giving me funny looks because my suggestions for the poster were kind of weird. I call it "word vomit".) And we practiced the song that we have to sign to, because some people didn't know the signs for it. I thought I did, but as soon as we started, I realized that the signs I had learned were different from everyone else. Yeah. Kinda annoying. So now I have to relearn the song.

And then I went back, ate a bagel, and here I am!!! We are planning on maybe going into town tonight and going to the beach tomorrow. I probably should go shopping too.....
